plates for juggling

I'm looking for white plates suitable for juggling and manipulation - possibly melamine or some such material. I had fibreglass ones made for me years ago, but they had to be painted white (which chips off) and were not entirely smooth.

Any thoughts?

Brian Dube makes aluminum plates, with a durable white enamel. I have found them great for manipulation, and they take a beating.Dube.com

Thanks for the reply. Aren't Dube's plates actually spinning plates? I'm looking for something that would pass for a standard plate - that you could even put plastic food on. For some of the stuff I do, the centre of the plate has to be flat and not peaked at all. Any thoughts?

they make these plates for camping that are like hard thick plastic. I'm not sure what they're called but check a camping store. I don't think they weigh that much which might be a negative but they're unbreakable. I saw some white ones that looked pretty platey but they're not shiny. or not the ones I saw anyways. hope that helps

Thanks Mark. Shiny or not is not a problem - it's mostly the size, thickness and colour - and to a degree the weight, though something slightly lighter than ceramic plates would be best.

I'll have to check some camping stores, but if anyone comes across any such objects in the future, please post here and let me know.

Crate & Barrel, Dansk, yuppie shops, some hardware stores... Anywhere that caters to folks who own actual picnic baskets and bring cloth napkins on their picnics will have several lines of well-made, unbreakable, plain white plates and such. Trouble is, they're mostly not going to be selling them now. Summer item.

Try calling the stores & seeing what they carried, and if any is still in stock somewhere.

You could also try to find one of those art programs or stores that has plastic plates for the kids to paint... not sure if those will work for you. Good luck.
