    Whips

Anyone have bullwhips and related learning material for sale?

Alternately, can anyone suggest good books, videos, and tell me if the bullwhips dube sells are good quality?

    Thanks,

Visit www.bullwhip.org ... it will answer most every question you might have re: whips.

My only other suggestion might be to order one from Peter Jack "The Whip Man" in CCH, New Zealand ... I did, he's great!

I (WHIPBOY) always refer people to Mark Allen Wild West outfitters based in Las Vegas NV. You can find them linked easily off the wwweb.

the Whips Dube' sells are Mark Allen Whips (I think). the up to $100 whips are good whips to learn on.. I believe they are 6 plat ( the numer of plats is the number of srips of leather used to make a ship)
I started with their cheap nylon whips, which are okay but take a gread deal of time to wear in... I thin moved on to a 12 plat Batman Returns whip from MAllen. It is a great whip.

6' is usually the best length for performing I have found.

The best whipmaker I know is a man named Spyder and his co is "Xperts only" his email is xperstonly@hotmail.com. He made me a 16 plat whip I use to this day. He is the best I know.

My advice to most is if you dont spend more than $200 for a whip its not worth the investment.

Markk allen also has a great dal of trainning videos for whip work (as well as lasso and gun twirling)

I believe Mark Allen is now dba www.westernstageprops.com. I love his lil' indy bullwhip.

www.murphywhips.com has some excellent whip and instructional videos.

I make nylon blacksnake whips, up to six-feet, in a wide variety of colors: www.coyotewhips.com. Feel free to drop me a line, if you'd like something special.

I was told to check out Adam Winrich whips- being a beginner but also planning on working it into a street / stage act. I don't have the whip in yet; but he just sent me a picture and I'm pretty stoked about it. His prices are pretty competative and he seems pretty reasonable.

Obviously I won't have any educated idea about the quality myself until I get more experience, but I imagine Gery Deer is going to let me know what he thinks of it.

Andrew conways book is a good one, you can get it on bulllwhip.org as mentioned below.

Also Rhett's Whips makes nylon snake whips and they are pretty reasonable in price.

He is very pro jesus and god and you will get some propaganda probably with your order, but he is sitll a nice guy and does a good quality whip.

Ok...This is an ancient thread, but i just restarted whipwork (Actually using an instructor as opposed to swinging around a whip until it does something I like), and I asked my instructor the same question.
She said that the Dube nylon was decent for a start (Which is what I am using now) and when I was good enough to make it worth my while, to go to Spyder.
Translation- Use a whip that you don't have to worry about damaging until you are good enough to not have to worry about doing any damage.
The Dube is a decent whip, and i have had no problems breaking it in. Not as loud as some I have used in the past (I'm more used to a 12' and my Dube is 6') but it has good weight and is pretty durned responsive.
Just my whip noob 2 cents.

I'm all about Spydr's whips. He's AMAZING. If you want to get in touch with him, send me your phone number and I'll pass it to him to call you. He's making me a matched set for double cracking right now.

                        Gwyd,
I ran into a former client from my old occupation today and they couldn't stop raving about how good I looked in my pirate garb.

It is a great life to be bringing smiles to peoples faces while living out a childhood fantasy.
All this and $$$$$ to boot...

                        ARRRRGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!
