    Turkey (Istanbul) scene

I've got a possible gig opportunity in Turkey,
I know... woah! This is far away and I'm having trouble believing it.

I haven't travelled much I must say, And I dunno much about anything that goes on the artistic scene over there.

Anyone can tell me a bit of information? Anyone here has been there and can tell me about their experiences?

    Thanks

Just a quick note...make sure that you have a gig in the country Turkey not the bird.

We had trouble at Customs. They wanted all kinds of money on our "tools of the trade". Be sure to have someone from your contact there to meet you and help you through. It's rather corrupt. Have them pay any deposits etc. and make sure it won't be deleted later from your fee. Don't be discouraged from going- just play it cool.
Also, be aware that when travelling by cab, if there's an accident, YOU are responsible, so get out immediately and get lost in the crowd.
Be sure to do a lot of sightseeing, it's a fascinating country. Great food, too, when you eat in the non tourist places. Always find a spot that's full- the locals know the best spots.
You can get gigs at the several US Armed Forces bases as an extra after or during your gig. Approach them yourself- you don't need an agent. Best bet to start is the N.C.O club. And they pay in $US. Bon voyage! Kelly.
