Anybody has any info on Belize?

I am heading to Belize in january, mostly to get away from it all, and check out if it might be a good place to lay down low during Trump Era, but I wonder if anybody ever worked there or knows anything about street performing situation there? I am on Belize Expats Facebook forum, and they are all like "you need a permit for everything here! How dare you break the law!" LOL. retirees...By the way - expats forums on social media are good way to promote your gig when you travel.
