    How good is christchurch?

the crew and I were considering moving to new zealand next year but we were wondering what christchurch was like as far as busking.
can you do it year round?
    how big is it?
    what is the ground like?
any other things you guys want to mention that would be really appreciated.

    thanks

    Hometown Ch-ch person here.
I presume you have other reasons to be there.
You cannot work all year round, well you can but winter is cold.
You could work the arts center all year I suppose in the weekends, weather permitting.
Cathedral Square has a pitch, you used to be able to work in Cashel st mall also.
High street mall is the same as Cashel and links to it.
It's a city with 300 000+ people. Hard to maintain an income I found. This for me was after working many years overseas first.
I'm from Christchurch and gave it a shot. I worked 6 days a week for a year. You turn up same place same time you become a fixture, which is good. There is corp event flow-on stuff available also.
I'd go there without having to need to stay. Wellingtons scene is even more weather dependant but Wellington has a buzz, it's a bigger city.
Things may have changed. It's been 8 years or so. But knowing Ch-ch, I kinda doubt it.

I'd say for you guys if you still havea similar show with the wheel - you couldnt work the Arts Market - too small a piych
The Sqaure I rekon would work really well for you - theres a market on the weekends (maybe during week in the summer - not sure) and its a massive space if you move onto the sqaure rather than using the steps pitch which most streeties seem to prefer.
With your wheel you could probably draw a Big Crowd and then let the other streeties have the small picth for the turn over - maybe 3 shows at weekends....
If youre thinking about CircoArts PM me
Hope to see ya guys in Canada again this Summer
      Peas out
