Can we street perform in front of White House nowadays?

Hey, does anybody knows - what's the situation on front of White House Busking-vise? I was there many years ago, and there were all kinds of free speach protestors camping in front of White House....I just visited Venice Beach - and I was thinking - this can be an awesome pitch, the Obama's house on the background, right? Will Mr.Obama's people arrest you for free spech in front of the White House - just wondering...

That's a hell of an idea. Fuck I want to go swallow a sword with the White House as a backdrop... that'd be awesome. Maybe one day if I'm ever in D.C.

I've not done anything at the White House but here is a promo photo taken at Buckingham Palace. I managed about 15 minutes before the police showed up and asked me to move on while holding back a smile. The tourists where all over me. Could have made a fortune charging to have photos taken with me.

I went on youtube and found a video "Street performers in front of White House". - street rappers singing praise to Obama. Police motorcycles passing by - but not stopping. It's a good sign.

The last time I was in DC, in April of 2008, there were a few musician buskers along Pennsylvania Ave in front of the White House.

as far as I know you can perform on pennsylvania avenue because Clinton closed the street so you won't be blocking any traffic. However from what I've been told by a performer buddy of mine (and granted this was during Clinton, so it might be out of date). Don't even TRY to pull out anything that could be a weapon. (i.e. torches, knives, axes). You will be bum rushed by undercover agents posing as tourists, bums, and other cool costumes. Nice big crowd, but it's hard to hat pass when you're handcuffed.
