    Mallory lottery system explained

The Mallory Square lottery system works as follows. If I've made any errors, please feel free to correct them.

First, the Cultural Preservation Society (CPS) leases Mallory every night for 4 hours. Vendors pay the lions share of the lease amount. They are charged $10 or $15 each night to setup. Performers don't pay, but do put money in a tip jar to be put toward the daily lease.

In the lottery there are 4 buckets (Newcomers, Snowbirds, Snowbirds in waiting, Regulars), each with metal washers in them stamped with a number. The lowest numbers are in the Regulars bucket, next lowest in Snowbirds in Waiting on up to the highest numbers in the Newcomers bucket.

It takes 60 days to get from the Newcomers to the Snowbirds bucket
It takes 3 years to get to Snowbirds in waiting
It takes 5 years to get to the Regular bucket
It takes 10 years to get to Grandfather status, who pick first out of the Regulars bucket.

If you've been away from the pitch, and return, you drop down a bucket for 35 days...

There are about 21 spots right now with 9 available for circle shows. This will increase when the pier is finished being re-built. Looks like sometime in mid February.

    Hope this helps.

Aztommyb,it's the hardest thing in the world to perform when your sad. Some 20 years ago I split with my daughter's mother. I was working as a white face doing comedy stuff and balloons and a magic skit.I worked with tears coming down my face,as I tried to entertain all those young children ,my daughter's age. and I was 2000 miles away.I feel your pain!As I said you had a really great drummer. I hope he comes back and you guys had a really good show.I really don't think really you under stood how the system works here, the day that I out drew you? But anyway piece...

I hear that, I spent last xmas breaking in my new show down in Melbourne whilst living out of my car - after losing my 8mth old baby girl in July.

        tough times.

Holy shit man, that's terrible. My greatest sympathies. For some reason i keep thinking about how terrible my life would be if something ever happened to my 3 year old son. Actually it started the day he was born.
Do all parents worry like that ?
