    kicked out of Australia

Yes buskers and buskerettes, I was kicked out of Australia on the way to the Coffs Harbour Festival this year.

In addition to a tour of the back part of the Sydney airport that you never want to see, (Vomit stained carpets! No doorknobs!) and a quick flight back to the USA, I received a three year ban from lovely Australia. There is a procedure for applying for a waiver to this ban when one applies for a work visa.

Does anyone have experience with getting back into Australia after getting banned? Has anybody done this waiver and gotten a work visa?

Please do not write just to tell me how stupid I was to go without a work visa. I already know that part.

    Thanks,

working visas.... hahahaha - I was thinking about going there to perform - didn't know anything about having to get a working visa.... can anyone share with their experiences about us citizens working in other countries.... I work in canada every summer and that alone makes me nervous. I don't want to fly to the other side of the world just to get thrown out right away.

Hey, you're David Lichtenstein yeah ?
You were one of the very first street performers I saw and inspired me to become one myself.
1988 at the world expo in Brisbane. Bet you had a working visa then.
Australia is pretty tough on folks who don't abide by the book these days.
Any reason why coffs didn't help you arrange a work visa like Adelaide fringe does ?

Seems to be a serious problem here. I'll email privately.

Are you really telling us that your tourist visa was revoked and that you were deported????
        Every-one should watch their drawers!

Yes, my visitor's visa was revoked and I was flown back on the next flight to the US.

There is a procedure for applying for a waiver of the three year ban that I can do next time I apply for a temporary work visa there, hopefully soon.

Does anybody have experience or know of somebody's experience of trying to get that waiver?
