    Ottawa! Quick!!

It just dawned on me that the massive animation festival that I'm headed to later in the week will be a perfect opportunity to pull out my cartoon-style chalk.
I need to know real quick and fast if there are regulations. ...Considering it's our nation's capital, I might assume so, but I really need to know... or take the chance of getting shut down.

And for the future, I really need to learn who to ask in a CITY to find these things out... I don't want to have to post every time.

Well, maybe I WILL just keep telling myself that.

Also curious about what some good public pitches are.

    The details:

The festival is right down town, centering around the National Arts Centre. That's where all teh big stuff goes down and smaller seminrs and screenings spread out to different buildings, but all within walking distance to the National Arts Centre.

I want to catch the eye of fellow animators who will be running around the Elgin Street area.

I can picture the area in my head, but I'm not sure what's, like, private pavement or scary Ottawa government property.

The actual Arts Centre would be a perfect place for me to set up in front of. The shopping center area across the street on the cobblestone street... can't remember what it's called... has sweet tourist traffic, but market rules might be different?
Some animation stuff is also happening around Chateau Laurier.

I just need an Ottawa expert's help. I've only got a few days. I'll be on the road Thursday.

I wish it hadn't dawned on me so late to combine the anim and street worlds.
Well, maybe I WILL just keep telling myself that.

The cobblestone shopping area is Sparks Street and they sponsor a busker festival so they would be worth contacting to see if you can set up there! Google Sparks Street

        Sharon McKenna -- I've e-mailed. Thanks.

Someone also told me about Byward Market. I recalled that it does get a lot of animation fest traffic.

Both Byward and Sparks Street were the main places on my mind to begin with, but I couldn't for the life of me remember their names or streets.
Well, maybe I WILL just keep telling myself that.

Byward Market is an extremely workable pitch for shows, I don't know if there's a lot of room for pavement art though as the walkway through the main part of the market is fairly narrow.

I didn't really look too far past the pitch though, I'm sure there's a lot of room around there!
