The Anchorage Downtown Markets both hires and allows buskers - they run weekends through Labor Day Weekend. www.anchoragedowntownmarkets.com I think, plus they've posted on here before.
Busking is legal in downtown Anchorage - talk to Cheri Spink at the Anchorage Downtown Partnership to find out where and how.
The Wild Berry Theatre in Anchorage is often looking for new acts to do ticket-split shows with. Talk to Ann Reddig.
Seward Alaska has a good coffee house, Resurrection, that is suitable for smaller acts and music. We sold out an improv show there on 36 hours notice. (But the stage is a postage stamp
)
We've done Anchorage twice now and will be going back in March to work with Wild Berry again. There are a lot of towns that are starved for entertainment, and we're hoping to get out into the interior more next year.
Enjoy!

Busking AK
Hey, Jeep --
I second Isabella's enthusiasm. Anch. wouldn't allow me to play on the street (something about only your feet and the hat being alowed on the ground -- that disallowed my instrument "table"), but the Anch. Market (2 days/week) is packed with tourists and cruise ship passengers and has been VERY kind to me on several occasions.
Remember, the temperatures in Anchorage are VERY pleasant during summer days, so you don't need to to worry about indoors venues.
I've played the one bar in Hope and the spit in Homer. The state fair in Palmer (Labor Day week) hires street performers -- I got third place for best costume with my renny outfit and hurdy gurdy several years ago. I've understood busking is OK in Fairbanks, though you need an anchor attached to your waist to avoid being carried away by the mosquitos!Comment
