      Gold Coast

      Hi. Re Surfers Paradise. Yuk.

The auditions are once every three months. $66 for the three months. I've been working there regularly since 1993. No more. Surfers has lost its atmosphere. And now if you have a liscence you still have to audition every three months. Its easier in Brisbane. At least they'll audition you when you get there. And you don't have to pay anything.

Unless you've got family, friends or some other reason to go to Surfers, it just aint worth it, Lightfoot.
It a pretty ordinary place and I, for one, can say the only reason I ever went there to work was when they gave me an apartment and paid me.
I doubt if you'll find any-one works there any-more, maybe a local muso or balloonist.
        Every-one should watch their drawers!

Hi Peter. Your'e correct. And it's got worse since you were there. No cartoonists, no hairwraps, no atmosphere. At least then it was a entertainment precinct. Now it's just an ordinary shopping centre and a grotty one at that. I must admit I loved the place. But as you say the flats made it worthwhile and the peaple, both performers and punters.

Lightfoot, I'd think about trying Cairns. Easier to get a licence and better quality punters. The only trouble with Cairns in March is, I think it's the rainy season.

              Hey Lightfoot,

Are you the Kenny Lightfoot who use to work in San Diego and is a friend of Godfry??

If so howdy and I was in surfers in 05 and yea things have changed from the days of Richy Rich, Forest,Keno, NIck Nick, andrew E. and many othe top notch street acts.
While I was in town I did talk to Brendon Foley he says Gday to everyone!

I ended up working alot of markets on the weekends and they were good also just down from surfers is a place called Broadbeach it was good need a permit but easy to get.
