    West Palm Beach Pitch

Hey folks....Sorry for the absence but i've been on an extending hiatus of sorts...The palm pitch is at "Clematis By Night" which is held every thursday in downtown palm beach on Clematis by the Meyer Ampitheater. My old contact was Matt Forrest..It is now Cinde Martin...She can be reached at 1-(561)-822-1515..Let her know that you are interested in performing at the CBNSS area (clematis by night sideshow stage) and that you talked to me. Only room for one act a night...as many shows as you can fit. Early hats are okay..but it is the late hats that make you your cash. Check-out the website at Clematisbynite.net...The last show I did there was Oct 26th..Their hallaoween party...did well...If you have ANY problems and need a handing setting it up (Cinde is nice..but Matt was the one who started the street performing part) Give me a call. 772-418-6667.

    great gig

did two shows on a slow, windy evening and it was good!!! People where very friendly and although the pitch is a little out of the way, i managed to pull a couple of big crowds and made some good loot.

I will definitely be doing this again.

      I concur...

I have been doing my show down there the last 2 Thursdays. It's been my first real street experience, and I've learned alot. The people are friendly, but the best part is the costume. When I'm in costume, I can do almost anything...Almost.

I made 80$ my first time, 70$ the second.
I've used it to redecorate my room.

Would anybody care to offer any tips?
(Don't worry, I've read the library)

At any rate, It's the best pitch I've ever been on, I've had a great time there and am going to continue going as long as I am able.

        clematis by night

This is a good event. Only problem is that they only have one pitch. I did two shows and made over $150 each show and it was a cold windy night. I would like to do it on a nicer evening!!

Wow, Thats really good money. I'm currently making about 15 dollars a show. It's probably due to my lack of experience. How do you make so much? Any specific tips?

I do a 15 minute juggling show. I's mostly comedy with fire clubs on a rola bola for my finale.

Any and all advise is appreciated.

          Wow...150 a show...

Go to a busker festival up in Canada and watch as many other shows as you possibly can. Don't copy (duh) but notice what they have in common.

For example - we mention a specific dollar amount as a suggested tip, in a funny way. This increase the number of people who give that amount.

But the biggest thing is to keep doing your show and refining it and making it better. People give more when the show is really solid, and it takes about 300 shows to get to that point. For that reason, it's worth it to work for free, cheap, and low pay when you first start, just to get shows under your belt.

It may well be a worthwhile investment, though, to head up to a big festival and watch a lot of other performers work. You can learn a lot by checking out how other people deal with hecklers, handle their transitions between skills, what skills everyone else is doing, etc.

            Good luck!

                Crouching Tiger,

Are you going to be at the Clematis by Night in West Palm tonight? (Thurs, Sept 6th). My wife and I are in town for the week. I do a stage show, not so much busking (that's where I need to learn and grow). If you're there, it would be nice to meet you. What time will you be on?
