Has anyone ever worked cold pitches anywhere in DC?

I looked into busking options in DC a few years ago, and was told it was illegal, across the board. Nontheless, I occassionally see paint can drummers or musicians down on the Mall.

The rules may have changed since I checked, tho.

I'm thinking maybe that's how Canada burned down the White House back in the War of 1812.
One pitch in front of the White House, one Canadian fronting as a fire act, one "accident", and the rest is history.
