    performing in english

Hey there was wondering what peoples views are on performing in english while travelling around europe. i don't speak any other languages so don't really have that much of a choice but wondered if people found it made a dramatic difference to their hats or shows? cheers

As Europe is full of different languages the issue changes border by border, and depends on whether you perform in little out of the way towns or major cities. A sweeping generalism would be that in Holland, Belgium and Germany you can work in english in the cities, perhaps adding a local phrase or attempting to speak a little of the language. however in France and Spain i would either work to music or get your show roughly translated! Even if your french or spanish is bad it is better to attempt it. I also think that in a funny way its a mark of respect to "give it a go", and there's a wealth of material in the mistakes, or if you come out with really local slang they love it...But it all depends on your show, if its language heavy or physical and visual, but havin to adapt is a great way to develop new stuff i reckon!
