Traveling to Orlando Florida in January

I will be in Orlando, Florida from Jan 11 to January 18. Is there a regular street scene there. Also is anything special going on that week.

I am brand new to Performers.net but have been doing a street performer for the past five years and a magician most of my life.

If you are going to be in the Orlando Area that week please let me know are well. My trip is mostly a vacation but I am not capable of visiting there without trying my street show for some of the time.

It's cold Boston and I need some time on a warmer street!

    Thank You,

    Fish

    Orlando

The difficulty with Orlando is that the best spots are owned by corporations, not public property.

It might be worth it to audition for Disney while you're there.

Downtown used to have street performers (contracted) at Church Street Station, but they ended that program a few years ago. I don't know if the Station itself is even still in business, but they owned most of the downtown walking street.

      Thank You

Thank You for letting me know. My friends in the city had warned me they had not seen street performers in a very long time. Hopefully I can create my magic anyway.

Do you know anything about auditioning for Disney as It may not hurt to do so.

        Disney

They have a phone hotline and also post details on their website about monthly open calls. Plus, they often have calls for variety performers. It's worth it to audition because they are booking for so many places and they keep you in their files for a long time! I can't recall the phone number, sorry, but if you call their general number (1 407 W Disney) and ask for the number for auditions they can probably get it to you. Or ask for "casting" which actually means HR in general and then ask them about entertainment casting.

I performed at the Magic Kingdom many years ago and had a very good experience there. It was while Church Street Station was going strong, and though I never tried to work there as well, my partner did double duty working both in the daytime at the park and at night passing the hat at Church Street. There are many satellite venues with all of the themed shopping areas and other parks as well, so getting a "day job" performing for a corporately organized venue and then at night finding a spot and carving out a pitch might be very profitable.

Of course, it does mean you would have to live in Orlando, but we all have to make sacrifices for our - um - art.

I just drove by Church Street Station.
They are currently knocking down several buildings in the mall.
