    Busking in Paris 2006

    Hey there-

I am curious to know the CURRENT situation with buskers and street performers in Paris.
There were rumours floating about previously banned areas (eg. in front of Notre Dame etc..) that had opened up... any truth to that? Any predictions how the riots will change things in
    2006?
A friend and I are looking to come to work the streets there in Spring 2006.

    Cheers,
    jeff

I here that people still worked the bridge by notre dame this year, and also by the pompadou centre.
I think they've just re inacted a law that forbids any gathering of people that could insite riot. So I guess that means you'd have to tread lightly, and keep your fire away from cars.
All should be back to normal by the summer, and the center hasn't realy been affected.

Why don't you just accept we're rich and you're poor?

Does this mean the poor and oppressed will go back to accepting their plight?

No, it means they will be even more repressed.
Rioting in summer just isn't popular. Too hot, and besides there are better things to do.

          Hi there,

I just saw all this posts about europe and so, so here are some informations for you.

          about Paris:

It is very funny about all the people they tell that Paris is nice to work. I was working there from 1989 to 1996. It was allways just playing games with the cops. Thats why I leave. Last time I have been there again it was in 2002 and I was stopped by the cops right in my first show. Stopped by the cops means: You stop the show, no money, go the police station with all your props, stay until 4 hours there and having a idendity control. And there is another funny thing. Since I leave Paris to live in south I see more and more of the paris performer coming to work here. There is only two places to work in Paris now.
          1. Chatelet in front of centre pompidou (all year)
          2. Paris plage, that means beach of paris (only in august)
If you want to work in France, come in summer time and go the little cities. In France the better is to work at night. It is much colder and the people enjoi much more.

And now some usefull things about germany:

First, do not use amp, do not use fire and shorter show less trouble!

In case you have some trouble with any police. Just say yes, yes, and again yes. Get your probs and come back tomorrow. Germany is a free country, so do what ever you have to do. They often try to stop performers, but there is no law about it. I mean, it is very easy. The only reason to stop a performer is:
doing to much noise (people complain, thats the reason why no amp)
doing dangerous things (for example fire and so)
having to many people and no more space for pass behind (just keep your show the more short as you can)
and also helpfull is to change the pitch often.
And the last thing is. If you want to go germany, why munich? There is a lot of other cities, better and less trouble.
I think, I know what I am talking about, cause I am GERMAN!
For me the best time to go there is in Mai and June. There is a lot of Strassenfeste (a kind of street festivals or birthdays of small cities) You will find every week one in another town. It is not so hot, so you can work all day long.

Also nice to work in spring and summer is Holland, Belgium, Denmark, Schweden. For winter better to go Spain.

In hope these things are helpfull. All the best, Falo.
