    hola~
i just spent 3 months living/working all over south florida. the only place i busked was down on south beach (on ocean). i paid close attention to the police situation: they all just walked on by. i set up shop on several busy (and some, not to spacious) corners with no problem. i also saw some other "mobile buskers" (a guy with his dog walking through a tire with a tip bucket hanging from his mouth). i'd recommend starting your shows after dark when the liquor is flowing. my tips were pretty stale until then. also try out the busy spots on ft. lauderdale beach. oh, and you DEFINITELY want to check out lincoln street mall (also on south beach) - not sure about the legality but that place is surely a gold mine!! even on a sunday afternoon! good luck.

ps~ overall i saw very few performers down in florida - another great sign

      Heres a great place

Contact Dallas the Amazing Beaumanz, he is a juggler/fireater
I had the pleasure of working with him in Clearwater Beach, FL. A great pitch that is workable all year round. He is the busker coordinator and gives out the passes. You can find his postings on here and contact as I don't have his number on hand.

        lincoln street mall

I lived in miami a few years ago.. working at the downtown malll known as bayside marketplace.... while I was there I remember alot of performers coming to the mall because the shysters that run miami beach made it illegal to perform there don't know what's been shaking lately there though. Curious as well...

Greetings all, I'm a sideshow performer, moving back to my old "home-town" of WPB Fla in the next few weeks. I too am curious as to whether anyone has any specific info on the central florida area, as I am very much looking forward to some busking in the sunshine.
Any info would be greatly appreciated!

I used to live in WPB and tried to perform at Riveria beach...but the cops were too much of a hassle. On the gulf coast side around Sarasota, cops used to round up buskers and give them a ride to the county line. Overall, it's a very conservative state due to the retirees running the show. I remember in PB, they passed a law where a male couldn't go without a shirt. Hopefully, things have changed in the 20 years I've been gone.

Thanks for the info. It's been a little over 20 years since I've been there myself. I remember when they passed that "shirt-law" in Palm Beach, too much money and ego on one island...lol
Most of my gigs are club shows and private parties, but I do enjoy doing some busking when I travel. Hopefully, I'll be able to get away with some on Lake Worth Beach, if not I'll just keep on keeping on until I find some empty/unexplored pitch I can run.

              Peace and Funnel Cakes...

I live in Royal Palm Beach, and Mostly I just want to find out if the cops can take me off public land for "disturbing the peace" or "fire hazard" (if I'm using torches.)

Thanks for all the input so far though.

And what about fire. I just purchased some torches and would like them to be my finale. Will the local authorities in these areas be upset? I have looked through all the local ordinances and laws I can find, and nothing says I can't, but nothing says I can either.

P.S. I'm only 14, if that affects anything.

                    Thanks.

                      Just do it...

If a cop stops and tells you that you aren't supposed to be doing it, then you know.

As for fire, contact the fire marshal, tell him exactly what you want to do, and he'll tell you the legality of it all. (you usually have to take a test, and get certified to perform with fire).

It all turned out all right, I found a good weekly festival that will allow me to do pretty much anything as long as I stay in my designated area. I made good money in the last two times.

                          BUMP!

Amazing Beaumanz (or anyone else in the know), I'm going to be headed down to Gainesville area for a few days later this month. Any tips on places I could busk while I'm there?

I see that nice list you made for iluv2juggle four posts back. Think I can still go by that?

My show has fire and amplification.

                          thanx
