    Upper Mid-West Pitches

Long time listener, first time caller.

Got 3 weeks to kill between the Iowa State Fair and a county fair also in Iowa and I don't feel like driving home (Florida) and back. Anyone have any ideas as to where a trained parrot show could set up shop for a few weeks at the end of August through Labor Day? We are currently working Clearwater Beach with the Amazing Beaumanz, but have worked theme parks, fairs, etc.

Wouldn't mind driving a few hundred miles.

    Any thoughts appreciated.

Mark I hear Worlds Of Fun is looking for a parrot act!

Seriously Lincoln and KC have farmers markets you might try. You could do OK in Lawrence for a weekend or two without any hassle. You can find a town festival to crash every weekend. Maybe we can crash one together.

I take it you guys got the new RV all parrot proofed.

This is a publication that is my Bible!
In June there is an issue that has all Fairs and Festivals everywhere, both large and small, Lists contacts (Fair Manager) phone numbers etc, and dates. And who's going to be where, and who was where, and for the big acts how much they pulled in, etc.

Get a copy by asking the vendors on the Midway at the next fair you do. There is always a person who comes round selling copies to the vendors. Or go to a decent sized Public Library and ask for it at the Reference Desk, There will be 2 issues in June, so ask to see both. Take a pen and a notebook and copy what you need or make copies. You need to find the Fairs and Festivals section, near the back.
It can also be accessed online if you pay the subscription.
      Happy hunting!

Worldwidese - Thanks for the tip. I forgot all about AB. I was going to subscribe at their booth when I worked IAPPA last Nov in Orlando, but got tied up in our display and never followed up.

Richard - I'll see if I can find them one. I've been contacting some waterparks in Wisconsin, but if I can't put anything together, maybe we should hit a few small burgs and bring some entertainment to their dreay lives.

and no, I'm not even close to parroting the rv yet. Found out the tires weren't in as good shape as we thought, and the best price I got on new ones is about a grand. Hopefully we'll pull it all together in the next few weeks.

If you want to hit a few things together, let me know. There's got to be some things happening Labor Day weekend.
