Are there any pitches in Portland and do they have a city permit? How strict is Rose Festival about street performing - do you have to be 'official" or it's possible to crash it? Is it a "hippy-festival"? Peace, Irina

The Satruday market(Saturday and Sunday) They put up a list up under the bridge at like 9 or 10 am. You do strolling right? I have had some good shows there. You are talking abour Portland Oregon right. Good luck. -
its first come first serve. Not sure how many people are allowed. But there are something like 5 pitches for music and stuff. But if you are doing a circle show you have to work at the fountian. by the way the bridge I was talking about is the Burnside Bridge. On the downtown side. The people are really nice there you should have a great time. I am not sure when it starts up again though. mabee there is a website?Comment

fresh from pdx
hi there,
i just barely moved from portland after living there 6 months. the downtown SW streets have quite a few random folks just banging drums and doing very amateur stuff. the only real street performer that i've seen is the silver man. he works the saturday market as well as the corner of pioneer place (the main mall and, in my opinion, the only real pitch outside of saturday market and festivals). my advice is to have a professional-looking show if you plan to do street shows, otherwise people will just walk right past. i was thinking of some other stuff but my brain just farted...
