      Brrrrr It's cold!

We worked indoors, but there was plenty of snow outdoors, up in Taos and Sedona, both good tourist spots. For Phoenix area- Scottsdale is the target spot- made up to look like an Old Wild West Village. Never busked there so can't tell you about it. If you go to Taos and Sedona I am sure you'll love it. Maybe carve out a little spot for yourself and stay there a while!
Hey Peter, what's it like playing frozen water glasses?

        hot air balloons my backdrop

For the past 2 years, I've busked the Glitter & Glow Festival (January gig) in Glendale (suberb of Phoenix) ... did 4 shows/day at an outdoor theater in the historic downtown area ... made about a grand plus the fee ... decent.

Heard the street fest in Scottsdale is an organizational nightmare ... they let the street acts and bands battle it out ... dumb folks.

Sedona is nice ... seems pretty sophisticated ... never tried to busk there.

          Here in Arizona

Hey Irina- I'm here in AZ, while I have not done busking outside of Festivals for some time, (without pay, there aren't any good pitchs I can find) I will tell you the following -
Phoenix- has a panhandler's code, so musicians are about the only ones who can make anything (hat, but no hat line)
Sedona- You would have to be on private property with their permission, and winter is slow season anyway.
Which leaves-Tempe- You can get a permit for $10 and actually make a few dollars downtown on a busy weekend. Probably not worth traveling for, though.
Sorry that's all I've got for you. It's been raining here for over a week anyway, so so much for sunny Arizona.

P.S. Butterfly Man- so that's how good the hats are on the main stage- hopefully I'll get up there at some point- still out in the street this year. We'll miss having you in Glendale this weekend. (Unless I missed something. I heard there was some fire act on the stage)

Looking for a partner in AZ for 2007 fall/winter

I did not make it to AZ this winter, but I am definitely going there next year Oct-January, and I would really love to get a local partner - balloon twister/caricature artist/hair wrapper/henna artist etc - somebody who can share vending booths with me at fairs and festivals and occasionally street perform between fairs. I may or may not have a car, so I would definitely prefer somebody with wheels. Please, send me an e-mail.
