Anyone know what it's like to street perform in Budapest Hungary or in any other city in hungary?

I was there a year ago, and the advice I got from local performers (not street performers though) was that the police will haul you off and keep your stuff...

I didnīt check out the official line though...

Bonzerelli the clown & Ali the wonder dog

415 864-8338 Call Mitchell Barrett (of Grin & Barrett) ... I'm pretty sure he went there (albeit in the 80's) with my van ... I'm sure the rules for the street scene have changed but he might be able to have some useful information ...

Tell him you found his number posted on a gay website ... it's ok ... really.

      P.S. Hey Kenny,
I knew you were friends with Sean McKinney and was hoping you might have read my tribute poem to him ... I posted it on p.net somewhere awhile back.

Two of us decided to broaden our country list last year and try out Budapest. The crowds were great, though a little confused about several english speaking circle shows appearing in town. My co-conspiritor worked one end of the mall, while I worked the other. We start at the same time to split the traffic. Police got to him first, and shut him down immeditally. He held them just long enough for me to get to one of my mini finales, when they came to shut my show down. We asked about permissions, but were told it was impossible and that we were both on camera. I managed to hat the crowd, so paid for dinner that night. I suspect with the "right" political connections it could become a really fun pitch to work. Neither of us were threatened with loss of gear that day, though were seriously advised not to do it again.

        Hope that helps.

Thanks for the insight into Budapest! I wanted to live in Hungary if possible and still make a living....I wonder if there are any cities outside of Hungary that are decent for street performing but close enough so that I could still live in Hungary....without the need for psychotropic drugs of course?

          P.S.
Yes Robert I did get to read your poem for Sean....Very thoughtful!...be well!
