The commuinity police have been asked to move on all entertainers from St James Street (leading toward the Piatza of Covent Garden) who are not doing statue work.
However, most of the community officers are really nice, they will let you finish your set before they come over and ask you nicely to move on. The chap that spoke to me even suggested other places to try instead and told me he liked the entertainers being there.
It all boils down to some entertainers who were doing a show (he did not go into detail) and they apparently did something the shops in St James street did not like so they banned musicians and entertainers who were not standing really still.
Such is life.
