The countdown to Blackpool’s Showzam Festival is well and truly on! Taking place during February half-term (Friday 12th – Sunday 21st), Showzam will feature some of the world’s most exciting and talented artists appearing across Blackpool at famous venues including The Tower Circus, The Winter Gardens, The Tower Ballroom, The Grand Theatre and Blackpool Pleasure Beach.
The critically acclaimed La Clique are Showzam’s headline act, performing in the North West for the first time. Other Showzam highlights inspired by the great British traditions of circus, cabaret, magic and variety include the stunning acrobatics of Ockham’s Razor with their new show The Mill and Spymonkey’s surreal and absurd take on the tale of Moby Dick.
Complementing this line-up of critically acclaimed shows are some of the hottest new variety acts currently on the circuit. This includes Australian hula queen Marawa, the irrefutable Miss Behave, American operatic Diva Le Gateau Chocolat, World runner-up same sex ballroom dancers the Sugar Dandies, Hula Boy Elvis, Mrs Barbara Nice, double act Firsky and Mannish, burlesque star Amber Topaz and a host of others will be in town to bring a touch of outrageous entertainment and mischievous behaviour to proceedings.
Showzam will also feature La Machine (the company behind The Sultan’s Elephant and Liverpool’s 50-foot mechanical spider La Princesse) who will be fusing fire effects with live music in the heart of Blackpool town centre with some help from the UK’s leading pyro-technicians Walk The Plank. There’s also the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain with their acclaimed silent film project Ukulelescope show.
