    Does Corn Pay?

Does corny music pay better than playing stuff that's "highbrow" or "profound" or "meaningful"?

I have a feeling to a great extent it does.

I didn't vote, because I don't think it is the music, but the show. I am newer than new here and just starting to think about this whole thing. I have listened to lots of people out there and to me, it's the show. I have heard corney songs, but the show was so good, I was wowed. the same goes for songs with meaning.

From a purely audience point of view, Great delivery is what I want. If it's good, it's good!

I gotta agree. I survived last year by hustling small crafts I made, but really they weren't buying the craft, they were buying ME. Music has much more of a future than handicrafts as long as we have China competing - later in this Depression we'll be able to sell matches and shoe laces on the street just like in the books of Dickens. But for now, with music there's the change to get quite good, and there are people who will give to a performer every week, while once they've bought a craft item they generally don't need another.

It's the singer not the song... over the years I've noticed that classical music lovers are fewer but heavier tippers...and someone with a show can do better than someone who's "navel-gazing."
