Well, I have some to learn.

    The friendly drunk...

Typically, this guy hangs around and watches a couple of shows, then strikes up a conversation about whatever, and wants to talk... and talk (while you're trying to get a crowd).

I've learned that being nice and stepping back after allotting them some time, to start the show/gather the crowd, usually gets the point across, and they step back and wait for the show to chat again.

Not this guy, tonight... He wouldn't shut up, and wanted even more attention. Gushing compliments about crap from how I'm enhancing people's lives and I should be what people watch instead of taking depression medication, to saying how amazing every little thing I did was.

When someone finally stopped to watch, regardless of his presence, I had to play to the sides of my table, because this sot wouldn't move.

I don't have the grit (yet, if ever) to tell him to fuck off... What would you have done?

"Hey man, thanks. I'm gonna start another show now, so take two big steps back, ok?"

"Really, man - I want to enhance some people's lives, so you gotta step back so I can do another show."

    "Stand over there. Awesome, thanks."

"Seriously, dude, I appreciate it, but now I'm going to do another show. Back up. Thank you."

that sounds a lot, although completely different than the "curious as hell little kid" like a drunk, they don't know when question time is over and watching time starts.
