    Income

Hey guys just had a quick question that came to me? Where do you guys get a majority of your income from? While I enjoy street theater I dont enjoy it as much as doing shows in a theater- its completely different.... I dont know just seeing what people have to say .

That question seemed long...But then again, I'm a slow reader.

I don't know anyone who makes a living ONLY on street income. Just about everyone does some gigs sooner or later to supplement the street. As for me personally, I made about 90-95% of my income on the street for my first two years. Then, gradually, I started making more at gigs.

After five years of full-time performing, I was making about 60% of my income on the street and 40% at gigs.

A couple years ago it flipped and I started making a higher percentage of my income with gigs. Now, 10 years into it, I'm about 70% gigs and 30% street. I must say, it's a nice place to be (not totally RELYING on the street), but I know that can change any time. There's good gig years and bad gig years... good street years and bad street years.

The cool thing about gigs is; if you do a good job, gigs lead to more gigs. That's what happened for me. On the other hand, if you focus on the street, it will lead to more street. That's not a bad thing when you're starting out, and some people love doing the street for years and years... but if you keep an eye out for gigs and can do both gigs AND street, you'll have your bases covered for the long term.

I think it's good to do both. (Oh, and find a girlfriend/wife/significant other with a corporate job.)
