When it's slow season on the street, or it's too hot or too cold to be out, yet those bills keep coming, look around for other venues. When we were in Florida, we took a show to dozens of those retirement communities. I DO NOT mean Senior Centers! I mean the gated, affluent communities with a golf course, etc. They all had a nice Social or Community room, and they were all bored and readily accepted us. We sold tickets at the door, and gave back a percentage to the Club. We were able to do an hour show, but if you are a short act, you could team up with others. You need about an hour, but if you're short a bit, you can fill up some time after with a Q and A period. They like to hear how the other half lives.
In some places we did the camp grounds or trailer parks. Same system. But more family oriented. Everything can be booked on very short notice. When you book'em, leave some flyers to post on the walls. Better yet, stick them up yourself.
Try the Librairies for their summer reading program. You need about 30 minutes. These must be booked well in advance. They pay a small flat fee.
We've done Museums, Malls, State Fairs, Festivals, Auto shows, Garden Shows, Hobby Shows etc. etc. The world is your oyster!
None of this will make you rich, but
