Shipping US to Europe and back

I'm performing in Austria soon. My prop case is over 100 lbs, so I can't check it as excess baggage, so I have to ship it. Anyone have experience doing this? With FedEx? With what is needed for customs?

Fed Ex says: "To prevent delays, your shipment must have the following customs documents attached: Commercial Invoice, Certificate of Origin, Shipper's Export Declaration. Additional clearance documents may also be required."

When shipping, find out if the venue has a preferred carrier of choice, sometimes they will have a cargo/frieght company to use and not ups, fedex etc.

with any shipping declaration documents, make sure you enclose 3 or more copies of the contents. sometimes they will want up to 5 copies.

Each stop your equipment makes they will take a copy stamp it and keep it on file.

for safety place a copy inside the trunk as well.

Label them as personal items and commercial documents/country of origin certificates should not be necessary, only the contents/inventory list.
But check to make sure.

Also make sure that contact information including phone number is placed in multiple locations on the inside and outside of the trunk in case things get lost they will still have your address'

FedEx or UPS will require the same docs. No pressurized or flammable items. For 100 lbs, the price will be high. (maybe $800)
