Performing with a t shirt launcher?

HIGH! FOLKS!

Well I have a new gig and venue! INSIDE the Pepsi Center! I get to RUN around on my stilts and toss t shirts during the time out and at half time for the Colorado CRUSH arena football home games.

Sometimes I only have 60 - 90 seconds to RUN out and back.
So at this point all they have me doing is tossing t shirts.
And of course I can only throw to the first few rows, so I am considering getting a t shirt launcher.

Does anyone here have any experience with these?

Besides t shirts and yes hot dogs, what else would you recommend firing? The team supplies the t shirts.

Peanuts in the shell? crepe paper? toilet paper? plush toys?
confetti (duh!), foam dove launch at weddings? Popori (flower petals) at black tie, art shows and weddings?

What else?

Any suggestions for any other venues?

This one gig will hardly justify the expense, so I need to get creative to afford this great toy!

Any tips for PERFORMING? What to do to make tossing T-shirts
more entertaining? I suggested we only throw t shirts to those fans wearing orange underwear, but that didn't go over to well!

Thanks For your help on this, I sure do appreciate your feedback. PLEASE forward this to who ever you think might be able to help. See ya at Motionfest and the Great Clown Adventure!

To make a T-shirt launch more interesting, you could tie a piece of crepe paper with a long tail for a streamer around the bundled up T.

I would launch waterballoons at outdoor summer venues. Or water soaked foam balls, and get people to throw them back, or play games with each other. Stuffed rabbits at an Easter Egg roll. A wad of hairnets for Halloween (spiderwebs), little parachute men toys at a rah-rah patriotic we-support-our-war gig. Stockings, bras and panties for frat parties, silky scarves at the DAR spring tea.
(Don't mix them up.) Mardi-Gras colored feathers, cheap polar fleece Christmas hats. Your possibilities are limited only by your imagination, which is pretty spacious.

Is there a place you can test one before buying? I only used a launcher once, and it was mounted on the golf cart I was riding. I don't think I would be able to manage carrying one on stilts, plus a bagful of whatever I was throwing. Or maybe there are smaller models?

Anyway, sounds like fun, good luck.

Why don't you try a manual version along the lines of a hi-li or lacrosse stick? Take a look a spear throwers as well. I'll bet you can increase your range dramatically if you just lengthen the lever that is your throwing arm.

You could also look into wrist rockets and fancy slingshots.

"spear throwers" Got me to thinking. There is a sport that uses a basket weave aparatis to throw a hard ball. Don't know the name or where to get it. Anyone here know what this is called? I'm thinking Indian in origin?

THAT"S IT! Thanks!
I'll have to check that out when I get back from MotinFest West and the Great Clown Adventure.

I'm still collecting ammo ideas. I've added cubed jello to the list for Raves and such. Hey if Insane Clown Posse can spray their fans with soda pop, I should be able to clobber them with jello, right? ;&gt Foam packing peanuts? At close range, I could offer instant wide coverage tattoos! Koolaid powder is so colorful! For Valentines Day, a nine foot tall cupid could fire foam rubber arrows! For Christmas, a nine foot tall giant candy cane could fire . . . candy canes! Or Rudolph's sponge nose! And at Easter . . . ! All those left over pogs
would work! Stickers and pogs .

Even a heavier item can be safely fired if it is packed in a nice cushy
plastic bag full of soft air. 2 oz sample packages of fancy ground coffee for example. Wrap it in bubble wrap, and you are good to go!

Thanks Cybele and Steven! This is going to be SOOO FUN! Keep the ideas coming. Anything up to a 3 inch diameter could work.

Walking tall and grinning!

Yes , Jai Alai is Basque , funnily enough the Basque word for festival is jaiak , and the only Basque word incorporated into the English language , is Bizarre
Sounds like a crap job though .

Stretch have you done anything with this yet? I've got a gig with our local pro basketball team where I'll probably be doing this.
