    Knives or Torches?

I want to get some dangerous props to juggle over the summer, but I'm a bit hung up on the bylaws. Performers, which do you think I'd run into less legal trouble juggling, knives or torches? Is it even worth it?

did you ever hear of a city block destroyed by knife ?

I realy can't comment for the U.S. but most places in the world seem to have more of a problem with fire. I guess because it can spread and grow.

MOS DEF, knives will be less of a hassle. Where do you plan on performing?

Sorry, I should have mentioned oringinaly that I'll be moving across Canada from Alberta to Ontario, hitting as many towns/cities as I can in between.

Every juggler uses knives or torches. I know I have. Standard props are…well standard. Why not look for something a little out of the ordinary. Maybe a baseball bat with rusty nails sticking out of it, or clubs wrapped in fly paper with jagged shards of broken glass stuck on. Go get a tetanus shot and let your mind run wild.

Alot of places in the UK are clamping down on use of fire.
I doubt there would be an issue with the knives.
I know arron gregg coats his clubs in peanut butter. Try something off the wall

              hmmm

Fire torches equal dirty hands, smelly costumes, insurance and license issues and the constant search for flammable substances.

Knifes make better and more predictable pets that will give you a lot less hassles in almost every situation.

Of course you will have to work a little harder to get your crowd....

Heh, it's proving difficult to get EITHER option in Canada, but thank you all for the tips. As for juggling crazy things, I've been considering (broken?) liqour bottles, as it would fit in well with the broken glass and pirate theme I've been attacking this with all along. The problem is that as far as props go they're harder for most audiences to focus on.

I have, in fact I got into his stuff shortly after I started juggling. He's cut himself a few times something bad doing it though.

Are you the juggler that was at the Edmonton Magic Club swap meet?

Haha, I hope that didn't sound too weird, but this is Tyler (if you remember me) the other juggler that was there that night...

P.S. I seem to recall Penn saying at the first WJF a few years back that if he saw anyone else juggling broken bottles he'd personally come to their house and beat them up haha!

P.P.S. I think (unless you're flying) that torches would be much less of a hassle. Knives are more intimidating to the casual policeman I think. But fuel's an issue to carry around, it's heavy. Put it in a Nalgene bottle I guess...

Thanks. In the end I couldn't find either before taking off, but I'm still looking around while on the road.

Penn just might, I'll back off And yes, that was me at the swap meet, say hi to everybody for me.

By the way Schuyler, you had mentioned when I met you that you were looking at getting ahold of some torches before you went out on your trip.

I know it's too late now, but when you return, I believe the Vanishing Rabbit in Calgary has some, if you want to look into that...
