Hey. I want to play the one man band while riding a unicycle. What kinda unicycle should I get? I looked on ebay but I'm suspicious of the ones they are selling!

something tells me you probably want one with a 20 inch wheel or smaller
and as far as the sort of unicycle, you probably just want one that works. Super quality is for super tricks, i cant imagine you walking the wheel with a drum on your back -
Nothing wrong with an old Schwinn, they last forever.
Myatas are ok, but not my favorite. The best is a DM Engineering "Ringmaster" for what you want, but they're in the 400 range. Tom Miller made good unis.
Sounds like a cool trick.Comment

If you got really good at the unicycle, you could attach rhythm devices to the spokes of the wheel.Every-one should watch their drawers!

I remember meeting a German guy in Japan in the mid 90's who did that trick. His name escapes me but he sang old traditional Japanese songs while cycling around on a uni playing his OMB. It was a site to see for sure!...I think his name was Ollie??? He lived in a small village in Japan with his wife and children.
That image of him atop his unicycle playing all the instruments has stayed with me.Comment

Dm's are the best but Dave has stopped making them due to the cost of chrome plating.
The Uni's on ebay are ok. I bought a couple of the "qu-ax" ones for the club and they are well built.
I would like to see it on a giraffe though. (not sure on the quality of these as far a Qu-ax goes)Comment

spokey dokeys
maybe its just Aussie slang
but spokey dokeys where I grew up where little plastic balls that fitted around the spokes on the tire. They were loose so when the tire turned they would slide up and down the spoke and slap into the rim causing a noise. Tires can have a lot of spokes so spokey dokeys can make a lot of noise.
Taxi, what were they called in the States???Comment

Another thing we used to do as kids (before spokey dokeys were invented) was attach some stiff carboard or plastic to the forks or frame which would connect with the spokes. We believed at the time that our bikes then sounded like motorbikes.
I imagine you could get a rhythm going with it when idling on a uni.Comment

Lee, I think we call them "those little plastic ball spoke thingys" here. You win on vocabulary.Comment

You mean to tell me that 'spokey dokey ' is not an American term ?!
Just confirms my thoughts that Australia has been becoming more American than America .
Sad sad sad sad sad ( 'SAD' is actually the initials for 'USA' in Croatian, funny but true).Comment
