    What's the right approach

    Hi,
I am thinking of busking some local bars and restaurants. Have any of you done this and if so what would you suggest as the right approach?
    Thanks,
    nola

That depends largely on what your performance consists of. What do you do?

      Busking Bars

Start by visiting the places you want to work, at the time of day you hope to work them, and notice what the traffic patterns are like, where you would stand, what you would do and for how long. Then go see the manager during a slooooow time of day and ask permission.

i do a magic act (with comedy, bar bets and mind reading)

Isabella thanks for the advice. Let me get it right: you're suggesting pretty much the same as going in to get any restaurant/bar gig (preview, go in when it's slow and book the place)
The good thing about "busking it" is that now you have the advantage of saying "it's free - I work for tips!"

        Right?

Nola, go to Bro Paul's site and get his DVD called "A Brother Paul Trio" or you can just get his "X Marks the Spot." In this he details exactly how to do what you are asking. I tried his method and picked up a good $100 in 2 hours each night for a week.

Paid for itself in the first hour.

          His site is
