Stacking a Foot

Gradually I am becoming more proficient on my Rola Bola but now I want to push my own limits a little further with it.

Does anybody have any tips on how to stand on the bola with one foot? I'll admit that I watched a video of Jim doing a single footed rola bola trick and I was inspired to do better--thanks Jim. I've been experimenting with the one footed thing while grasping onto a pole and praying that it won't zip out from underneath me---I think i"ll start wearing a helmet.

The other question is stacking. I have a homemade bola and want to stack it but don't know how to go about it. What would I use to put between the two planks?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Tanks a tonn!!

hey hey,
oke doke, i've only just started to learn, but the thing with doing it one footed is....practice! thats it just keep ur foot over the pipe and shift balance accordingly.it may help me havin big feet but ne way. as for stacking you cud have a speciallly made stack ready. by putting a block of wood sandwiched inside of the two boards. or you cud get sum blocks of wood and put rubber on both sides( innertubes, silicone sealent squirted along the edges and spread evenly)?
k tell me if this is helpfull.
u can also try skatebord tricks like
-shuvits
-switches
-grabs
cheers for your time

I've been doing a couple of one foot rolla bolla tricks for a few years, and what I find helpfull is riding the board like was said earlyer, with the foot over the tube, but I turn sideways so I'm riding the board with the movement going back to front rather than side to side. Bending the knee really helps to lower your center of gravity and weight. The knee bend thing also really helps with stacking, cause the higher up you go with the stack the smallest move of the roller, gets magnified as it gets to you on the top. If you get a chance to see Dan Looker, he is one of the best rolla-bolla guys out there. He does fantastic 5 high stack. The one thing I've noticed about his work is he really bends his legs deep the higher he gets to drop his center of gravity.
I was working for a while with this old circus guy who used to be the bottom man of a 3 man hand balancing act on a rolla bolla. 2 guys climbing around on his head and shoulders on a platform on a rolla bolla. Insane, but hte pics looked so great. He had me doing jumping half turns and full turns on the board. Could be a possiblity for you.

Hey Todd,
Thanks for the tips! Good point on the center of gravity thing, I'll keep it in mind the higher I go !

Man that was funny.

Err you can jump around assuming you use something more substantial than a skate deck

you're definitely getting there with the tricks though

The pipe is 6-7 inch at a guess.
You gonna have any grip tape left over? I really need something better than the holographic stuff

I've got some grip tape kicking around somewhere- I used it on Uni pedals when I was learning- I'll see if I can find it for Monday.

Just another finding on the subject of spins on a rola bola.

I have found that it is possible to do spins far more easily if you use a concave board- this gives you just as much foot-space, but creates a much-reduced, but centralised area on the tube, meaning you can spin with ease!
Don't know whether this will be of use to anyone, but, hey, it's an idea...
