    Problem with my HAT.... help....

Spent my first real day of busking in NY after knowing which places to hit. I played Washington SQ my first show but there was so much shit going on there I really wasn't feeling it. Went over to Union SQ and played an excelent show there and then back to Washington SQ later that night for a smaller crowd. I only made $175. That really suprised me. I usually make between 40 and 100 bucks a hat depending on where I'm at. Thought I'd do far better in NY but no dice. The amount of money I make each show rarely ever has anything to do with the size of my crowd, infact nearly everyone will tip and tip bigger bills in my smaller crowds (around 30 people) and then when I've got crowds with upwards of 100 people I'll get pretty much the same amount of money, usually a bit more but still not as much more as I should be getting.

A little bit about my show: 20 - 30 miniutes long. 4-7 songs with a little comic pitter patter in between yelling at the audience and mildly humiliating some for the amusement of everyone else (the people I fuck with always tip me). I set a case out and also come around with a hat at the end, however I didn't have my hat in NYC yesterday but I picked up my case and walked around at the end of the show.

I'll be going back to NYC throughout this week and next prolly (I'm in Connecticut right now) to play more and test things out.

    Thanks for your input.

I saw you in the park yesterday you look like you were doing pretty good. My advice for you is to keep coming to the park, also try Central park since your not amplified you can work it.
The people in central park are alot more generous then the people in Whashington square and there are some good spots in Central park for an act like yours.

One of the best spots for your act is a pedestrian road near the row boat rental not far from the fountain and where they do Summer stage concerts.
Take the west 72nd street entrance walk threw Strawberry fields
    to get to it.

    Good luck,

umm...I noticed the date of your post. It may be a case of poor timing. I think that people in NYC could probably go either way around now, either wanting something to help them forget, or not wanting to be distracted from their grieving. Just a thought. See if your hats improve over the week...
