    oooooh danger!

    ummm jay ...

i think it might be a question of how mature a person is... and how mature they are when it comes to performing ... you know .. experience....

i've read some of what i thought when i was just starting.. and learning some of the skills that to be honest i am still learning...

much changes... after your first burn, or windy show.... then after your 100th show , and then 10 000th torch, after your second serious burn , after your third fuel related sickness...

sometimes the change comes after watching a new person do something so dangerous or say something so stupid you just have to shake your head .....

perhaps the change is based in experience....

in time you may understand... if you are open to learning... and with all the advice on p-net there is bound to be some good stuff

for the record.. i learned fire eating from a book ... with a trained safety watching my back ...( he was part of a fire troupe )

just be safe and don't push too hard.

I believe in that thread Rachel introduced herself as "Non-performer Rachel".

The Pretty Good - Hmm, sorry I dunno where I got the idea it was started in 2001. But what has changed about fire and fire eating? If you are talking about laws. I understand laws have changed. I will not be performing this for quite some time. I will be waiting till I'm completely solid and confident as I did with the one man band. If there is some difference between learning how to eat in 2001 and eating in 2006 please let me know.

I'm in Ithaca right now. I'll be heading up to Niagara tomorrow. Do you know of any spots that may be good for the one man band around there? I'll be stopping in NYC in a month and a half on my way down from Boston I think.

Does anyone know of any fire eaters in the north east that would be willing to teach? My only real skill is the one man band. I could give someone plans to build one if they are interested. I also know a lot of really useless stuff that is fairly easy to do but very entertaining and outrageous if done right. I can also speak backwards. I could teach this to someone also if they've got brains enough. I do feel fine learning on my own but surely would appreciate getting a little personal knowledge from someone who's been doing it for awhile.

After rolling it over in my head I’ve continued to study and practice. I started this thread because I was not completely clear on how to put out a torch in my mouth. Taking Rachels advice I successfully mastered it yesterday. Not as difficult as I expected.

Do people generally get sick from fire eating? I’ve read a lot of stuff and thoughts seem to be mixed. Some say no, some say yes, some say if you suck the fumes into your lungs you will get sick but I thought you were not supposed to inhale at all when the torch is near your face, so what’s up with that? I saw someone say fire eating and the human volcano are equally dangerous when it comes getting sick. Is that true? Seems like having a mouthful of kerosene would be a lot worse than fumes from the torch.
