Someone suggested that since I never got to do the Target Girl thing and because I seem to have a preoccupation with cool knives, maybe I should take up knife throwing . Today I went into the backyard and played around.
This is my old tree house. I used to live in there (six months of each year). The box is my target area.
Now, I managed to hit the target with almost every try... but rarely with the blade. There was a lot of bouncing and ducking going on. Thank goodness for steel-toed boots and glasses.
My moment of absolute wonder and awe is in this photo. Can you see where the knife landed?
Let me give you a close up shot (in the post below)

I will say I have been making my landlord nervous with a large throwing knife target in my back yard for over a year now, but I've never seen anything less sensical than that. Just figure out how to do it again and I'd say you've got a hell of a finale.
Also, those flip out knives don't last long; luckily there's plenty of great terrifying places online with cheap throwers to learn with.
That's pretty much it. It's barely five feet long. ...I guess I should call it more of a "tree platform". "Tree planks". It was me, a sleeping bag, an alarm clock, and a tarp for rainy nights. I didn't build it. It was there when my parents moved to the house. Looks like a labour of 10 year old love, and that's what I really like about it.

Is anyone aware of what knives are illigal in Canada? I know there are some.
I know there are certain blade length regulations (maybe that's just for the flip out kind), and at least one certain type of ceramic knife that's illigal here.
I just don't know the details.
I might consider ordering something online one day... but I don't want it to get stopped at the border. Knives and I have bad luck with that.
anything spring loaded (switchblade) or that you can flip open quickly (butterfly knife) I think there is a restriction on blades over 6 inches in length, but not positive on that one.
Now that's not to say you can't get them, or even keep them as a collector piece, but if you get caught with them......
k, I said, "sweet" and everything about the picture... but now I gotta be honest, I can't make out what's going on in that picture, Mr. Taxi. I really want to. I really like the greenery... And I can see a plank... but I can't quite makes sense of it.
Ever have those moments where you look at a picture that should be clear, but you can't , for the life of you, make coherent sense of it? That's what's happening to me right now. It's like trying to look at those "cross your eyes until you see the 3-D dolphin" pictures.
Or sometimes I finally realize that I've been trying to make sense of the negative space the whole time... The longer I stare, the less I can see.
And no, I'm not high. So don't ask.
(is it a swing? It looks a little bit like a swing to me.)
