Human Statue Paint

What type of paint is used on the clothing for grey or gold statues? Inquiring minds want to know.

I'm no statue, but the handy man within says that normal run of the mill spray cans would be just fine for the costume.
If that turns out to crack too much, then you could try mixing an acrylic paint with some liquid latex. You'd get a flexible rubbery paint that shouldn't crack.

Unfortunately that's becoming a common case these days. Every man and his dog(good idea that) is becoming a statue , and doing it very badly.
I have over the years actualy seen some good statues who have excellent interaction with people, but it is rare.

ps. how can this kid go out walking as a statue ?

I would also like to know the answer to the question - what do people use to color the clothing? The performers I saw in Europe used a makeup grease pencil for the skin, but I don't know what was used for the clothing. It seems to me that paint out of a spray can would smell pretty strong for quite a long time.

All the robot guys here in SF use silver spray paint, but they look like hell. There's a kid here who uses some sort of clay, he looks real neat, he covers himself, and his clothes in it, and the crazy bastard jumps in the bay when he's done for the day. He wears white jeans, and after he washes the stuff off, they're white again.

I used regular grease paint, Krylon I think, to color my bald wig scalp. After you poweder it, it is set, and doesn't come off very easily. You might also be able to use Snazaroo water base face paints, and then seal the fabric afterwards. Or dye the fabric?

mehron powder

it's a powder and WILL get on everything you touch but it's thoroughly worth it. about $7 at your local costume store. beats the crap out of the liquid mehron, even in silver.. it can be blotchy. the powder is fabulous.

unfortunately it also leaves a trail... everything you touch will sparkle (quite literally. door frames... chairs you push in at the table... friend's tuba cases.. all will have little fingerprints!)

anyway, i'm probably too late for halloween but, next year!

and i concur, i've seen an influx of living statues of late. the ones who are bad are, well, bad. but i was probably bad when i started out and i'm still not great but hell, it's a learning process. and the ones who don't improve won't keep doing it because they won't make cash and the ones who improve are a joy to behold, so we all win.
