WHAT DO YOU CONSIDER A SKILL

Just thought of this because in the pole thread Etienne says it's something that took you a week to learn and a year to perfect.
I learnt to throw 3 shaker cups in the air and catch them all in 1 hand in less than a week, in under a month it was perfected. Is this shaker cup trick not a skill?
Is kicking a hat from your foot to your head a skill? It doesn't take long to perfect.
Personally I think a skill is something that at some point you couldn't do and then you practised it how ever long untill you could do it.
    Any thoughts?

I somewhat agree with you Gav. But I think there is more to it than just learning a new thing. Magic tricks can be learned, but it take skill to perform them and not everyone can develop that skill.

Juggling is a skill!!!! (I know I have been trying to master it for a LOOOOOOG time and still have not succeeded.)

well its all relative I guess. Gav its probably easier for you to learn how to do 3 shaker cups because of your background. You have spent years doing things that have contorted your perseption of life and the things you come into contact with. Now you can imagine what is happening when you throw three shaker cups in the air. It all slows down and you can see things clearly.
Just yesterday I was screwing around in my apartment with a sprainged ankle. I tried to do that thing where you flip a club and catch it in a balance on your foot. I said to my roommate "wouldnt that trick be cool to be able to do?". In 4 more tries I had it. I dont believ that many muggles could do that in only a few tries. We can because we have been working on manuplating objects for most of our lives.
