    Tappers tapping crowds

    Hey,

The buskers have got a bit of a problem here in Dublin at the moment with a romanian family that keeps tapping/begging from our crowds. Its ruining our shows, especialy the musicans, driving people away, and all sorts. We've tried reasoning with them, talking nicely, but they've just been swearing at us and continuing any way. Anyone got any advice on how to deal with the problem?

    All the best

Whats the nature of your show?

Is there anyway you can get your crowd to help you by them (the crowd) letting these people know that they are not wanted?

Here in San Francisco sometimes the Homeless guys will walk around behind your crowd with a cup saying "Do you like the show? C'mon give the guy a little support..."

They'll make the crowd think that they work with you, it's bad. The best thing that I have found to do is, like Dean said, just call them out during your show. Get up high enough to see them and just say "Hey, don't work my crowd man, there's people all over down here." Which takes away their sales pitch, now that everyone knows. If that doesn't work, the next thing I do is call the cops, usually the guy leaves before I hit send. Also, when there's more than one of us on pitch, we watch each other's back, and try to get rid of the problem, gently but firmly, before whoevers working even notices that there is a problem. I'm not sure if these tactics will apply in your situation, but maybe they'll help.
