    Bailing

I dunno, i must have done fifteen shows today, and all of them went excelent, except one which I had to bail. Some sodding heckler whod brought ten or so freinds along and just sapped al the enrgy out. Now in every other show, I had a great time, the spectators had a great time, everything went brilliant. I made great hats, I got my message out. All in all it was a perfect day. So why the hell do I dwell on the one bloody show that went wrong. Beh

Owen, there's an old saying in showbiz that goes, a performer is only as good as their last show. So if the show you bailed was your last one then don't worry about it. You'll stop dwelling on it as soon as you have a show you're happy with. If it wasn't the last show of the day then I say still don't worry about it. Just go out there tomorrow or the next day and try to finish on a good one.

    Peace

Thanks for the replies lads. I did make sure to do one more show after the one I bailed, and that went well so i did finish on a relitavly high note. Dunno why that one show bothered me so much, I'm doing better now.

As for the fifteenshows, my show is still more of what you'd consider a walkby then a full circle show. Its pretty low maintanance and it only lasts about 15 mins at the moment, so getting a lot of shows out is pretty easy - i only worked about two to three hours the day when I did about 15 shows. They usually don't make a huge amount though per show - though my hats are getting much bigger now (inicdently most the money goes towards colledge fees). If you ever want to see a real busking machine talk to Todd "Danger" Various - when he was over here he was pulling off a full Gazzo cups show non-stop for around 5-8 hours. Mad stuff.

          Where's the pitch?

          Yo Road Mage,

I was just wondering where you're street performing. A number of years ago my partner Joel and I spent a couple of weeks passing the hat on Grafton St. Lots of fond memories of Dublin.

            Hey Dan,

I usually pitch up outside either Brown Thomas or BT2 . I ised to usually do River Island but they refurbished the sotre and turned almost all the sotre front into an entrance, pretty much destroying the pitch there. Occasionally do merchant barber in Temple Bar.

Am working on a circle show to play the main square in Temple Bar and the Stephen's Green pitch on Grafton. Dublin's still a reletivaly freindly city, though a lot of bad shit happens here like Stickman's van

15 shows a day is disgusting!
              were you on your own?
If you were torch michael you would not have enough hours in the day to do 5!
If the show goes pear shaped its best to bail out, never cry over a 25 dollar day?

Oh yeah! I was on my own, if I was switching off I obviously wouldn't be doing that many. Grafton Street is a street with many pitches and my show is real small and canfit in a small pitch so its generally not a problem to other buskers - obviously I make sure I'm not to close to anyone else before I set up

I don't normally do that many, it depends totally on the day, how my hats are, how big the crowds get etc.

                  i did it once before

it's true that 15 shows a day is possible, my show is 12 mins long.
                  but it is very tiring to do so many shows. the energy has to even throughout the show so it does not flop in the middle, the punters can see if we are tired. good luck man;
hey you can say Hi to Jimmy "hendrix" for me the next time you see him on Grafton st?
