    Hello...

    Hey, I've been thinking about using a local fair/carnival as my first ever busker act... Here are some concerns...

    The wife wants me to find out the local laws. After being relayed through and on hold with 7 people who said "Oh well, let me transfer you to someone who might be able to answer that for ya." I had to hang up and do some housework.

    As far as I know, Kansas doesn't have any laws against Busking. I wish I knew for sure.

    Also, I've heard two opinions on setting up.
    1. That I should contact an official before doing it.
    2. That I shouldn't contact, just show up, gather a crowd and hope the people running the event consider me a good thing to have.

    Since I'm not planning to be a travelling busker, I don't want to get on anyone's bad side. Any opinions?

    Thanks

    Um...

    I don't know for sure, but I would guess that regardless of local law, you would need permission from the fair/carnival to perform on their turf.

      Great Idea

      You think your first experience as a busker should be honing in on the well protected turf of the gypsy mafia of outdoor entertainment? Are you stupid, or suicidal? Try a local festival, and put this current idea on the same mental shelf as "Should I, perhaps, Nair my testicles?"

        The nair discussion

        Are fairs/ festivals the best place to start busking? Your post brought up an interesting question. I did a little internet research. Here are my findings:
        ++++++

        "Question
        OK. It was a stupid stupid thing to do. I was doing some personal grooming and put Nair hair removal cream on my testicles. After the initial agony I washed it off. Now my scrotum is red and painful. Is this a burn or rash? Is there anything I can put on it to make it heal faster?"

        "Answer
        You have what is called an irritant dermatitis. You can try over the counter Cortaid or Cortisone 10 and use either one twice a day on the affected skin. If this burns then you need to go to a dermatologist and get an OINTMENT like Cutivate."
        ++++
        "I have shaved my testicles and d*k shaft all my adult life, and have taught my son (now 25) to do the same since he was in puberty. To me it is part of maintaining a complete package. Just because you hide it under your clothes doesn't make it OK to let it grow wild. As far as your problems with shaving, let me recommend that first you get in the shower and wash your parts well, then use shaving cream generously on your d*k and balls. Use a fresh razor (you can always use it on your face afterwards) and carefull lift, hold and stretch your parts to provide the best surface to shave (just like you contort your face while shaving). BE CAREFUL all the time you are doing it. For your back, use Nair, for your body hair and underarms, get a hair clipper and use the quarter-inch guard. Oh, after you shave your nuts and d*k, make sure to rewash yourself. You will be amazed at the response that shaved genitals gets from others you are ten-times more likely to... "

        and finally this one
        ++++++++
        "sensitive skin nair, follow the directions, and you should have no problems...it works well for me, and doesn't bother my testicles..you may have to try more than one formula"

          Start local

          The best venues & events to try out your act locally are: church festivals, school carnivals, art fairs, farmers markets, street festivals and sidewalk sales. Outdoor shopping malls are also sometimes receptive.

          Unlike a big state fair or travelling carnival, most local events are dying for any type of fresh, family-friendly entertainment and they won't expect a fee from you.

            just do it!(TM)

            I think it is better to ask for forgiveness than for permission.
