    What could be improved?

I'm doing a advertising course and have a project where I have to write a 10 point manifesto to improve the working conditions for street performers. Could anybody tell what they feel could be improved? Thanx...

    Ban rain.

    Make police nice.

    Make everyone love street performing.

Seriously though, I think the best thing that can be done to improve the working conditions of street performers is entirely within the street performers capabilties, and that is BE GOOD TO ONE ANOTHER. We're all in this together to work, have fun and make some cash, so keeping egos and hot heads checked at the proverbial door would be my #1 call.

Improving our working conditions? Either we take care of this ourselves as best we can or nobody else will. Nor has an obligation to, because being a street performer in a way is like having an own business. Therefore, the responsibility is not transferable to others. Thatīs how I see this; comments of any kind are welcome.

        The manifesto

Ok... Here is a suggestion for the manifesto. Tell me what you think. I basicly trying to tell people what street performing is all about.

        ----

        THE STREET PERFORMERS AUDIENCE MANIFESTO

This manifesto states the principles of enjoying Street Performing in all its forms, be it musicians, performers or other people practising their art on the street.

        1. You have to recognize Street Performing as an art form.

        2. Street Performing is an art for the people. There are no intelectual criteria that has to be fulfilled to enjoy the performance. There are no codes that has to be followed. It is the purest and most honest form of entertainment there is.

        3. Street Perfroming is a noble art that has survived without any commercial influence. Appriciate this.

        4. You have to appriciate all the hours of practise that goes into most of the performances.

        5. Under no circumstance should you feel pressured to pay if you do not enjoy the performance.

        6. You have an obligation to pay if you do like the performance. Most of the performers are real artists that have perfected their performance and deserve all the economic contribution they can get.

        7. Lear to love your role as a critic. These performers work for you. Only through you contribution can they continue to spread entertainment throughout the grey city.

        8. Let yourself go. Many Street Performers includes the audience in their performance. They are proffesionals and are not out to maliciously make a fool out of you. They want you to have a good time.

        9. If you come across a musician playing music you like, just remember; you are allowed to stop and enjoy it.

        10. Never try to ruin a performance. Show respect for the performer and the other audience.

Until I came along offering to plug the ice cream shop across the street in exchange for free milkshakes and sodas.

As for improving our working conditions, the only thing I can think of is to install air conditioning on all public sidewalks. That'd be a big help.
