Winnipeg Int'l Children's Festival
Going into our 20th festival - June 5 -9, 2002. We do a mix of music, theatre, circus and comedy. I have time to look at materials twice a year - once at the end of June (which is just before all the Canadian producers get together for tour meetings) and again right about now, when I have to fill whatever holes are left in my roster.
If you're interested bear in mind
- the kids festival circuit is not the road to riches or romance - especially in Canada. The best way to make a go of it is to entice at least three of the 15 festivals to team up and tour you - I can get you the national contact list if you want.
- I don't book a lot of site acts because I can't afford it.
- not every street performer makes a kids performer - I should know, I was one of the foulest artists ever to attempt the crossover even with my promise of complimentary counselling after every show.
- the type of acts in the variety sector I present are Justin Case, Michael Trautman, Tomas Kubinek, Al Simmons, Tom Noddy, Checkerhead, Jonathan Park, Smythe & Saucier, Michel Lauziere, Led Zimmerman (Dylan sings Zeppelin) - just to give y'all an idea.
That's about it - we run the beginning of June every year. Thanks to those of you who have already sent me stuff - anyone else - here's the address.
