MicheLee Puppets, Inc. is looking for a male actor for our touring production EXTREME Health Challenge. In the game show tradition, wacky and entertaining puppet characters face a series of challenges, battles of wit, and puppetry mayhem. Children laugh and learn about the importance of good nutrition and active lifestyles.
Actor provides their talents for multiple male and female characters. Must be willing to learn puppetry. Previous puppetry experience is not required. Puppetry is hand and rod, booth style. As this is a touring production, you will help with the load in and set up of stage and equipment, as well as, striking and reloading the van.
EXTREME Health Challenge will tour elementary schools, as well as additional sites throughout South Florida counties. No overnight travel will be required for performances. Crew will leave each day from Fort Lauderdale.
Rehearsals are scheduled to begin in March 2009. Performances will be Monday through Friday through May 22, 2009. Expect four school day performances and one evening performance each week.
Experience and Attributes
The ideal candidate will share a strong commitment to the mission of MicheLee Puppets and will bring a variety of experiences and attributes to our organization including:
• Proficient with hand and rod puppets
• Able to produce multiple male and female character voices
• Good sense of humor and quick wit
• Improvisational skills
• Willingness to travel
• Enjoys working with children
• Ability to communicate with teachers and school administration
Specific Responsibilities
• Perform EXTREME Health Challenge
• Assist in driving company vehicle to school locations
• Assist with load in, set up, and load out
• Assist with developing and maintaining school relationships
• Assist with maintaining proper condition of puppets, sets, props, and equipment for the show
Auditions will be by appointment only on February 23 and 24, 2009. If called to auditon please prepare a one minute comedic and one minute dramatic monologue. If you have puppetry experience please be prepared to display your puppetry skills.
