To The USA Breakdancers:
The success in the Festival this year was that it happened. The South Street Seaport Street Performer program had requested a $500 fee for performers to work there since the Marketplace itself was in Dire Straits.
The common ground was to drop the fee request and work together on a Festival to Celebrate the Program instead.
I sent out all the applications to possible sponsors, wrote the essays and hoped for the best. The LOMA sponsorship with Seaport Management made the decisions after I sent several E-mails and calls as to the Scheduling, like the Month to Month Scheduling with the annual program.
My E-mails and letters were to allow all performers an opportunity to be part of the festival, and I sent along the information as soon as I could.
For some of the successful acts that have been with the program, the Stipend and incentives were not enough. This was why I was upset that the finances went to the popular international acts that were nonetheless a part of the Busker's Fare at the World Trade Center in the 1990's.
If you are in town, and have been with the program in the past, or have performed with another General Growth Property Site (linked on the Seaport Website) there is a policy for returning acts to perform if they are on tour.
I'll continue working towards improving the festival next year at the South Street Seaport for the Performers Participating. As I did this year, I will send all information for each act to the appropriate liasons.
I'll check the schedule and post, as there were a few other Breakdance Troupes in the current roster.
Have a peaceful day.
Sincerely, Josh
