Hey,
I've lived in Florida for 11 years now and am from Halifax NS, Canada. Been working as a musician/entertainer for over 20 years. I sing and play guitar, harmonica, keys, bass guitar, chapman stick and drums too. I've worked mainly as a solo act with backing tracks but also in bands, comedy troupes, as a Neil Diamond Tribute and have supported a few "B" National acts
I started my career as a busker in Halifax singing and playing guitar, I toured Canada as a Busker.
Why am I here? I've kind of returned to my roots as a busker and have put together a real and live OneManBand act I'm calling OneManRocs. I need to network. This act should take me places I ain't been before. I've been promoting the act, I've showcased at a few talent buyer events. I'm near Orlando and waiting on auditions from theme parks and more.
I started to promote this little late for the summer season events and missed on a few fairs
I've done 30 or so bar gigs with it so far. I don't have a scripted show yet, am still working out the jokes but take a look at the picture below or the video. I'm able to easily retain audience attention simply becuase I have drums on my back and drum sticks are moving above my head. Adding in interactive humor with this show is easy cause I got there attention, much easier then trying to be funny playing guitar over tracks in the back of a bar.
This has been the most rewarding thing I've ever done
I'll stop with the ego, continue skimming over this forum and look forward to networking with some of you.
BTW everybody wants to come to Florida for the summer and gig... this act ain't established fully yet AND this year has been horrible, Central Florida entertainers are scrambling to keep working. Me I just had 2 regular venues go bankrupt and shut down but I hope this act turns things around for me.
