Hey all...
Thought I would take a moment to introduce myself...
I am Pele
aka Maggie the Matchgirl, Dickens Festivals
aka Aiphelia Moore, Ren Festivals
I have been performing for the past 11 years. I have done both stage acting, toured with the Eastern Collegiate Shakespeare Company, and improv (mostly of the interactive nature).
I have performed as a cast member and as a stage act/singer at a few Ren Faires, Dickens Christmas Festivals, etc.
I have done fire performing for the better part of 5 years, constantly adding stuff to my shows (either tools of my own creation or learnings of new ones.). I just learned to juggle (very poorly I might add).
I present my fire shows at public festivals, private events (baby shower had to be the weirdest one) and just anywhere I can in general.
I am also a dancer, primarily focussing on World Fusion Bellydance with use of snakes, swords, and poi as dance props. I do have experience as a modern dancer, flamenco and african as well. I do living statue acts as well as henna body art.
I have studied all aspects of performance art both at workshop and "formal" education levels (college and university) but find that experience is by far the best teacher. I also have a degree in education and teach dancing, interactive improv and character creation.
I am located in Western New York, which is a very slow moving area as far as progressive performance art is concerned. I am hoping to, in the next year, create a push for more avenues for performers to get together and share with an audience as well as each other.
In the coming year I am looking forward to teaching, touring and directing fire based story shows in New Zealand, Australia, Italy and France.
Ummmm...I have no idea what to say so I am babbling...
I am a freelance writer as well, and do a great deal of work on Homeofpoi.com
I am almost 30, female and my performance company is called Pyromorph.
Thanks to Rick for sending me to this incredible resource, which I have only moderately perused in the past.
Ummmm...yeah.
Hi and thanks.
