These things(servers) cost a couple of grand.
They have the capacity to store almost everything rumple can write in a week.
Ok actually they could store 20+ large sites. (refresh me on capacity)
I would like to know what their upkeep is, what sort of juice they cost to run and how much a great throbbing internet onramp would cost.
Because after being sponsored for a number of years, my server company has farmed all its customers out to someone i suspect has a bunch of old harddrives in their garage and who uses multiples of $250 australian to do fuck all while i wait for them to reply to my e-mails.
Unlike the recently past generation of computer cowboys or the perpetual generic street performance modules as artist or lifestyle i have no interest in making a fortune out of the fact that people generally don't get out as often as they could (they don't really love you..brilliant!..where does he get his ideas) and nor do i like suspecting that my money is being used to provide sunscreen or sexual lubricant to some git who refers to his 'office' and his 'staff' and being 'overseas'. Just give me my ftp info asshole!
So anyway , in a month or so when I've calmed down and perhaps got access to my website back i was thinking of maybe looking at how cheap it might be for a group of us to whack down some investment in our tech futures.
I took my cat to the vet to be put down today. I bought it home still breathing and have to admit that death makes me more furious than say...(fill in several thousand blanks...)
