Agents VS. Management

What are the job descriptions of a Manager for performers...as opposed to agents? I understand how agents work but dont fully understand management. Any info/input greatly appreciated. Management fees/payment
Job description (i.e. do they do buisness end of the work(mailings of promo and the such) or dealing with agents...etc)
