info on lodging in San Francisco

SF is probably the most expensive city in USA to live, but it's really easy to 'get in' if you don't need to settle down...There are a lot of "single occupancy rooms" (SROs) there, they charge 150-250$ per week and you can always find more-or-less decent place to stay for a while. I usually stay for several days in a hostel (closest to the Wharf are Green Turtoise and Fort Mason - hostels.com) and look for an available pay-per-week room (any local paper has #s, or you can ask other buskers on the Wharf)...If you want to rent a room or sublet a flat - a good sourse is craigslist.com, which is SF based community billboard with free ads.If you speak Spanish, Russian, Japaneese or Chineese - check local national papers or web-sites, it's way cheaper to rent a place in an ethnic community...If you need a voice-mail there: bay-link.com - a great deal -10$ for the first month and 3$/month later. And you DO need a voice-mail, if you stay in SRO - there's no private phones there...
